Three Kids in Haiku

Oct 26

Running, talking girl
Smallest in stature only
Fire elemental

Wearing heart on sleeve
And lashes like river reeds
A rockstar-poet

Tinkering, building,
Wondering, imagining
Young philosopher

Brothers and sister
Schemers, combatants, allies
Best friends forever?

This post was inspired by my friend Stacia’s Haiku Friday series and a prompt at Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop:

Stacia’s poetry and pictures are the bomb. That is all I have to say. I’m so glad you are adding your voice. And now I have Mama Kat to visit as well. I’m so glad to be joining someone so (practically) world famous!

This really made me smile! Thanks for sharing. Its been a while since I’ve tried my hand at poetry of any sort, but I always loved the challenge of a haiku!

i love it. we tell our kids all the time that they are best friends believing that there is power in naming it out loud:)

fire, rockstar-poet, philosopher…those kids of yours will do big things.

Lovely distilled words
For three splendid little ones
Your love overflows

Absolutely lovely :)
I love how each child is so much their own being.

This is delicious, Kristen. They’re “so much” so young, already telling us who they are.
Lovely.
